The following are the core responsibilities of:

RECEPTION:

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team.

Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, the processing of information and assisting patients as required.


To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.


CLERICAL ADMINISTRATOR:

Support the Practice Administrator and there may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks as dictated by job needs.

This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:


  • Scan and summarise (code) clinical letters and ensure diagnoses and investigations are reflected accurately on a patient's medical record using DOCMAN and EMIS Web.
  • Sending relevant documents to doctors which require their review (change in patient's medication, hospital results, etc.)
  • Review new patients medical paper notes, summarising paper medical notes for new patients (Registration) and deducting patients that leave the practice (maintenance and GP Links) and send off patients notes to PCSE.
  • Manage all forms and requests for information or reports or copies of patient records from insurance companies, solicitors, social services, DWP, patients or other agencies received at the Practice within agreed target times.
- eRS referral management.

  • Management of stock, ordering, and maintaining practice inventory of equipment
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Receptionist/Clerical Administrator may be requested to:
a. Partake in audit/call/recall as directed by Practice Manager

b. Support administrative staff, providing cover during staff absences


About Us
The Practice consist of 2 GP Partners,3 Salaried GPs, 1.5 Practice Nurses and experienced and supportive reception/admin team. We provide a high level of care to 7,100 patients.

301 East Street Surgery operates from a purpose built surgery completed in December 1994.

Negotiations are taking place to join a new state of the art Health Centre at Thurlow Road, SE17 and the Practice is expected to move in Spring/Summer 2024.
