Description

The role of the Linen and Post Assistant is the safe movement, timely delivery and top up of linen across the hospital site in a professional and efficient manner.

The post holder will also be responsible for sorting of mail, franking mail and is responsible for sending tracked mail and parcels.

The post holder will have a flexible approach to work. This post holder will be based at RHCH (cross site working may be required during periods of escalation).

Working within the Post and Linen Rooms, delivering linen to wards and processing mail (internal/outgoing).

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 600,000 across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.

Linen

  • The safe movement of caged linen goods as directed by the Linen Services Supervisor
  • To pack and unpack linen as required to suit the healthcare services
  • To deliver pack and unpack linen to designated areas with hospital
  • To maintain and support clinical services in the adhoc delivery of Linens as required by service need
  • Data entering of daily linen requirements from ward areas ensuring accurate recording on to a stock control system using either a computer or android tablet device. Keep written record of daily requirements of Linen stocks within designated areas in the event of failure of IT systems
  • Check, adjust and replenish linen stock levels as required within designated areas in line with daily records
  • Adhoc and unplanned works as directed by your supervisor or management team
Post

The safe movement of people and goods including (but not limited to):

  • To collect and deliver post and parcels delivered to the service post room
  • To collect and deliver post and parcels around the site
  • Track and keep up to date log of recorded and special delivery items being issued from the post room
  • Franking of post
  • Log and prepare for post any samples that come into the post room or as collected
  • Carry out other adhoc duties as directed by line manager
  • Do not leave the post room unlocked when unattended
  • Carry out regular checking of Postal equipment to ensure it is in safe working order and report to your supervisor and/or line manger if it is not.
  • Follow reporting procedures for faulty equipment
  • Carry out weekly stock take and advise line manager when stock levels are lower than benchmark levels agreed for the service
