We're looking for a strategic leader with a commitment to keeping the needs of our patients and their families at the centre of every decision.

You'll work closely with the Director of Strategy to lead our small strategy team to implement our new vision and five year strategy within the Evelina London Clinical Group, developing partnerships internally and externally across a complex and diverse range of projects and priorities.

Evelina London has an ambitious strategic agenda which is all about improving patient care, including through our Children's Hospital Programme and new Day Treatment Centre; integration across our St Thomas and Royal Brompton sites; and exciting plans for advancing our research and clinical-academic strategy.

Above all, the Evelina London ethos places the needs of patients and families first, and the Head of Strategy will lead our work to embed that across agendas as diverse as research and education, population health, philanthropic strategy and the opportunities our new EHR and digital capabilities will bring.

The Evelina London strategy team leads a range of programmes and initiatives, currently including the implementation of our new Evelina London strategy; major programmes responding to developments in the wider NHS and local healthcare system in South London; research and academic development together with partners, including King's Health Partners; and working with fundraising teams on developing strategic propositions that deliver the greatest impact for our clinical teams.

The strategy team works closely with our clinical directorates and other teams in Evelina London and GST to ensure we are always supporting clinical service delivery.

As the Head of Strategy you will be responsible for leading this work including managing a small multi-disciplinary team made up of a Strategy Manager, Project Manager, Strategic Analyst and an Engagement Specialist working closely with the Director of Strategy and other members of the Evelina London Executive.

To be successful, you will need to:

Be able to effectively lead a team, supporting the development of staff and setting direction amidst uncertainty and a fast moving context
Be able to navigate a complex landscape building strong relationships with stakeholders and partners internally and externally, bringing a systems perspective to our thinking
Be able to work across multiple agendas, synthesising information quickly and accurately to develop clear and insightful analysis for the Evelina Executive and Board.

Evelina London is part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and we are responsible for providing services for women and children.

With almost 4,000 dedicated staff, and led by an Executive Team and Board, we have significant devolved autonomy to focus operationally and strategically upon the needs of our patients.

We operate through five clinical directorates:

Children's Medicine and Neonatology; Children's Surgery, Theatres and Anaesthesia; Children's Cardio-respiratory and Intensive Care; Children's Community Services and Women's Services.

We provide care at our hospital sites, Evelina London Children's Hospital and Royal Brompton Hospital, and provide community services for families in Lambeth and Southwark.

Key responsibilities include:

Developing content for the Evelina London Board and Evelina Executive Committees;
Supporting the Director of Strategy, and other colleagues, to develop and implement key strategies;
Leading programmes of work, dependent on the business and clinical needs of Evelina London;
Providing expert input and advice to the mediumterm strategic and annual business planning process, including supporting directorates and programmes;
Supporting work that Evelina London undertakes with external partners, including other NHS providers across southern England, local authorities, commissioners, the Guy's and St Thomas' Charity and King's Health Partners;
Developing and maintaining Evelina Londonwide relationships with a range of key internal and external stakeholder organisations;
Line managing members of the strategy team including Strategy Manager, Strategy Project Manager, Engagement Lead and Education Manager
