    Description

    We are working with a leading public service organisation in Gateshead that is seeking an experienced
    HGV Vehicle Technician
    to join their Technical Services Centre. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a dedicated team, maintaining a specialist fleet that plays a vital role in the local community.

    As an
    HGV Vehicle Technician
    , you will:

    • Maintain and repair a fleet of appliances, vans, cars, and marine craft
    • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults
    • Carry out all types of repairs, including hydraulics, engines, transmissions, braking systems, and ABS/traction control
    • Fabricate basic components as required
    • Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections
    • Undertake repairs both at the workshop and on-site at service locations
    • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards

    The successful candidate will have:

    • A relevant Level 3 Mechanical qualification (NVQ, apprenticeship, or equivalent)
    • Proven experience diagnosing and repairing complex vehicle faults
    • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, diesel/petrol engines, automatic transmissions, and braking systems
    • Ability to carry out fabrication work using various materials
    • Good IT and communication skills
    • A track record of producing high-quality work within set deadlines
    • A positive, team-oriented attitude with a focus on safety and compliance
