Job overview:

Exciting opportunity for a psychology graduate to gain experience working within an interdisciplinary pain management team.


Main duties of the job:

Supporting the clinical team in delivering group and individual pain management programmes

This will involve working in all aspects of the pathway including introductory sessions, assessments and interventions.

Supporting the clinical team in audit and service development work

Supporting the clinical team in improving the use of technology to disseminate information about the service


Working for our organisation:

ESTH has a small group of psychologists working in clinical health settings. We are also linked via GESH to a bigger group working at St George's Hospital. There will be opportunities to attend CPD events, gain insight into other areas of work and attend psychology meetings.

We have good links with the Surrey Dclin course and offer placements to trainees.


Detailed job description and main responsibilities:

The Assistant Psychologist will support the COPE MDT to deliver high quality personalised pain management for individuals with multiple physical and psychological needs.


The postholder will support and enhance the care of clients within the COPE service primarily through supporting clinical service delivery and service developments for patients and staff.

The postholder will assist in delivering group programmes under the supervision of qualified staff.

They will be responsible for clinically related administration such as organizing group programmes, administering patient satisfaction questionnaires, conducting audits, collection of patient outcome measures and statistics, and supporting development/roll out of new initiatives planned by the team.


There will also be opportunities to directly contribute to patient care under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist, either in individual or group settings, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.

This may depend on existing knowledge/skills. Opportunities will also be provided to observe professionals within the team (including but not limited to clinical psychologists) to broader understanding of clinical health psychology

Experience:

  • Previous assistant psychologist post

  • Understanding of the role of psychology in healthcare
