A general handyman/handywoman is sought to work part-time (c22.5hrs/3 days per week over Monday-Friday) at our food premises in Lower Broadheath.

This is a fixed-term contract and is envisaged to last for c6 months. Salary negotiable depending upon skills and experience (c£120 per day).

Ideally you will be a skilled multi-trader used to working at height, within confined spaces and ideally have prior experience of working within the food industry.

You will be required to carry out a wide range of all-around plant maintenance works and repairs to include painting, decorating and general ad-hoc handyman/handywoman works.

You will be required to maintain cleanliness and uphold safety standards in accordance with site rules and industry regulations, have excellent interpersonal skills and a good standard of both written and spoken English.

Main Objectives:

Responsible for the upkeep of building fabrication and the execution of daily tasks arising from GMP Audits, 5s Audits, and general repairs to the site.

These will include Mechanical, Plumbing, and building work fabrication.


Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with health & safety requirements
• Completion of Audit Actions on time and to relevant standards
• Implement corrective maintenance to minimize production downtime
• Manage costs and budget, focusing on waste reduction and resource awareness
• Adherence to legislation, policies, and procedures
• Engage in training and personal development opportunities

Qualifications:

• ONC and/or City and Guilds in electrical and/or mechanical engineering discipline
• NVQ Level 3 in either electrical and/or mechanical engineering
• 18th Edition Certificate or equivalent
• Demonstrated high levels of literacy and numeracy

Experience:
Proven previous Engineering/Maintenance experience, preferably within a food manufacturing/processing environment.


Key Technical Skills:

• Mechanical/building fabrication engineering
• Basic plumbing skills
• Painting & decorating
