What you'll be doing
We are looking for an Assistant Editor to join the Hodder team.

You will report to the Non Fiction Publishers, working across the general non fiction list as well as on the launch of an exciting new commercial imprint.

You will be responsible for providing editorial and administrative support to them and the wider editorial team.

You will play a key role in the acquisition and production of new titles and be involved in key decisions throughout the publishing process, liaising with colleagues across the company.

You will be working with a range of incredible authors, from scientists and historians to celebrities and influencers.

This is a varied and creative role for someone with a passion for non fiction and an energising opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their editorial career.

Who we are looking for
You will be supremely organised and curious, with a meticulous eye for detail.

You will also be passionate about narrative non fiction and Hodder's non-fiction publishing, with an interest in the digital landscape.


  • Proof reading, checking permissions
  • Reading, reporting and making editorial suggestions on manuscripts/proposals
  • Working on advance sales materials, creating keywords, writing TI and other copy to help our books reach and connect with readers in the most impactful way possible
  • Corresponding effectively with authors and agents
  • Collating proofs, checking copyedits
  • Briefing covers assisting the Publishers in doing so
  • Researching sales and statistics, looking for new opportunities in the market and having a finger firmly on the pulse
