Charity People are proud to be partnering with the National Literacy Trust, a charity dedicated to giving children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds the literacy skills to succeed in life, to help bring on board Project Manager, Literacy Hubs.
The work of National Literacy Trust is targeted at communities with the highest levels of disadvantage and the lowest levels of literacy by improving reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills of those who need it most.
A child without good reading, writing and communication skills will struggle to succeed at school, and as an adult they could be locked out of the job market.
Poverty doubles the likelihood that, by the age of five, a child's literacy skills will be below average. The work of the NationalLiteracy Trust is leading to a fairer society, enabling greater social mobility.
The Project Manager, Literacy Hubs, will deliver the Connecting Stories programme on the North Yorkshire Coast, and Get Suffolk Reading across three areas.
