This role will be based at our offices in Edinburgh, which are located on the Heriot-Watt University campus
UKRI Pay Band C - salary range is £25,702 to £27,938 (depending on qualifications and experience)

About the role
The BGS Project Support Team has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join them as a Project Support Officer for as a permanent appointment and be based at our offices in Edinburgh.
- Responsibility for a portfolio of projects within a number of science areas, working with Programme and Project Managers to produce accurate budgeting and forecasting of expenditure.
- Provide specific support, knowledge and advice to Programme and Project Managers, Topic Leaders, and Chief Scientists in the use of the Resource Management System (RMS) and the integrated project and resource management processes this incorporates.
- Monitoring the progress of all Project bids on the RMS for designated areas of responsibility to ensure all process steps are completed within the prescribed timescales, and all actions taken adhere to the BGS/NERC/UKRI policy for project management.
- Working closely with Finance to ensure Chief Scientists are provided with the relevant information to facilitate corporate exercises and financial monitoring.
About you
You will have excellent administration experience/skills within a project focused organisation and/or experience of working with project management systems.

- Ability to review and interpret financial and nonfinancial data and produce information to stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Ability to work equally well in multidisciplinary teams and independently.
- Demonstrable skills in resource management software packages.
