This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful and progressive PCN.
A General Practice Assistant will support the smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of clinicians freeing up their time to focus on the patient.
Other duties may include, but not be limited to:
- Signposting to others such as clinical pharmacist etc.
- Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes
- Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patients
- Preparing patients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment.
- Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs & phlebotomy
- Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies e.g. getting an on call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP can continue with their consultation(s)
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Administrative duties to support in PCN projects
This role is offered on both a part time or full time basis, however the successful applicant must be able to commit to working on a Monday and a Friday.
Education and Training
- To participate in any relevant training/courses/conferences
- To complete mandatory training
- To maintain your own continuing professional development, keeping up to date with developments
Information management
- To maintain appropriate confidentiality of information relating to the organisation and its staff and maintain compliance with the Data Protection Act.
- To be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all patient and staff records
- Support good integrated governance and information governance practice within the practice
- Report any concerns or incidents as per policy

- Winchester: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- NHS
- EMIS: 1 year (preferred)
- Primary care: 1 year (preferred)
