Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Highways Supervisor ro join our Area 7 account in
Northampton. This role will be based on site at
Pytchley Depot, Pegasus Court, Kettering South Business Park, Pytchley, NN15 6XS.


Working with National Highways, Amey maintain over 700 kilometres of roads across the East Midlands, ensuring the 4.5 million citizens across the East Midlands experience better journeys every day.


We provide maintenance and response across a vast area of some of the UK's busiest motorways and strategic highways across the east midlands and north of England.

As many as 180,000 vehicles a day use certain sections of this vital network.


The standard hours of work are 45 hours per week

You will be responsible for:


  • Carrying out site visits to ensure work is being completed safely, to the required standards and in accordance with the work programme and carrying out HSEA site inspections in accordance with contract instructions. Provide any technical support to the team as necessary
  • Briefing the team via regular toolbox talks and safety briefings, ensuring PPE is adhered to correctly and carrying out site safety and environmental inspections in accordance with the contract requirements
  • Ensuring that the team accurately records all work carried out on their PDA so that correct claims can be submitted to the client, ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with the CDM
  • Arranging the correct materials and traffic management set ups, ensuring they are in place for the team to complete their work, in accordance with the specification, and with mínimal waste
  • Confirming that the team have the SHARC permit, and stats plans when required and that they are training in the use of Cat and Genny
  • Preparing duty rotas for winter service and emergency call outs. Arranging and processing overtime and timesheets, ensuring compliance with the SOM principals. In liaison with OCR, ensure that employees are not programmed to work hours in contravention of the working time directive and to ensure correct matching of resources and work
  • Promoting a positive approach about our immediate community and workforce

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • A full UK driving licence, preferably with LGV Class C
  • Previous experience of Highways Maintenance contracts
  • Experience with delivering emergency service and winter service
  • Experience of performance monitoring and continuous improvement
  • Experience of managing a workforce
  • Availability for work at nights and weekends
  • Selfmotivated and proactive in delivering solutions
  • Commercial awareness
