We have six paid work opportunities for Level 6 FTV students with broad-ranging multi-camera production skills and experience.


Mentors will support lecturers and technical demonstrators in delivering studio and OB skills on the module FTV5100: Advanced Studio Production 2.

Students on this module will make 6 x 30 mins Livewire shows which will include:


  • Performances and interviews in the TV studio.
  • Outside Broadcasts recorded and live streamed on location.
  • Collaborative creative projects with artists and designers at Locksbrook Campus.


Mentors will have an important role to play in assisting second year Livewire production teams across all aspects of these productions.

Mentors will also be required to work on a range of extra-curricular Outside Broadcast productions for Iris.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist lecturers and technical demonstrators in the delivery of the module Advanced Studio Production
  • Help to provide instruction on the use of the OB kit, including rigging, derigging and media management.
  • Provide regular, ongoing support to Livewire production teams both in class and outside.
  • Provide technical support on location during Livewire OB recordings.
  • Act as core production team members on outside broadcasts for Iris.

Essential Skills & Knowledge:


  • A demonstrable awareness and understanding of health and safety procedures on multicamera production, both in the TV studio and on location.
  • Broad ranging technical experience in a range of multicamera production roles, including advanced knowledge of at least one technical role (lighting, camera and sound operation.)
  • Good allround technical knowledge and proven experience of using the OB kit.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to show initiative and be proactive in problem solving.
  • A detailed understanding of the roles of producer and director.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to help inexperienced students to plan, manage and deliver complex arts/performance shows.
  • Versatility and adaptability.

FTV5100 class times are:
Thursday

Thursday

Friday


Applicants must be able to attend at least one of these classes every week, and willing to assist production teams outside class times.

Mentors will also need to be available to provide technical assistance on Livewire OB location shoots.

In addition to supporting Livewire production teams, Mentors will also work on a range of extra-curricular outside broadcast productions for Iris (details to be discussed.)


Hours:
Maximum 20 hours per week.

There are six Mentor roles available.
