Job description: I am currently recruiting for a Special Educational Needs school in Birmingham that are looking to appoint SEND support staff who have worked within residential care units to join their team. The position is Long Term possibly leading to Permanent and will be working in a classroom environment supporting the class Teacher and teaching assistants on a daily basis working school hours. You will have had experience of working with challenging behaviour, SEMH as well as children with profound needs.
As a SEND Support Worker, you will be working alongside the class teacher and other staff supporting pupils with everyday school life, however, there will be times that you will need to be supporting children on a one to one and small groups bases independently.
You will be a source of support for pupils and will ensure they are motivated, happy and engaged ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.
The school caters for children with a wide range of needs including AUTISM, MLD,PMLD, SLD Complex Health Needs etc. with ages ranging from 4-18 years.
You may have been working in a social care or residential setting for at least 12 months and hold a relevant qualification to support this.
A knowledge of school curriculum would be advantageous or a desire to learn more about this to support your time in the classroom.
