We strive to improve the world through engineering by developing engineers, promoting engineering, informing opinion and encouraging innovation.Our home in London is One Birdcage Walk, a unique and versatile historical venue with 18 spaces that host over 1,000 events for up to 210 people each year.
We are now looking for a Commercial Venue Executive to join our well-motivated and friendly team of four on a permanent, full-time basis at One Birdcage Walk, one of London's most beautiful Victorian buildings and the home of IMechE.
The Role
As a Commercial Venue Executive, you will be responsible for:
- Optimising the profitability and revenue for the Institution whilst providing a quality service for both external and internal clients
- Contributing to the development of an efficient room booking service for both internal and external venue hire as a commercial business unit
- Maintaining a high level of customer service and delivery to ensure One Birdcage Walk remains a quality and respected venue
- Showcasing the Institution's facilities to potential external clients and advise on the availability and suitability of rooms
Helping develop the room booking service for events, you will contribute to venue marketing activities, manage the website and match customers' requirements to specific rooms.
Additionally, you will:
- Liaise with the Catering and Facilities departments
- Book Audio Visual (AV) equipment
- Ensure event and room booking details are kept up to date
- Conduct proactive sales calls and activities to prospective clients
- In discussions with the Commercial Venue Manager and or Line Manager, suggest innovative ideas for improving the business from both service and revenue points of view
About You
To be considered as a Commercial Venue Executive, you will need:
- Proven experience of working in a venue arena and within a customer-oriented
- Experience of providing a highquality customer service
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise to tight deadlines
- Good interpersonal and negotiation skills, tactful and diplomatic
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce
- Accurate numeracy skills and an ability to generate quotes and financial figures
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Motivated and focused on working hard to achieve results
- Experience of using a CRM system, room booking and event software
