- An excellent opportunity to start a career, complete an apprenticeship and progress within a law practice. General duties may include making and receiving telephone calls, preparing precise attendance notes, and filing, etc.

The Law Practice
- Specialist criminal defence solicitors covering Somerset
- The office is staffed by solicitors and police station advisers who often have to attend courts or police stations. The successful applicant will usually have at least one other person working in the same office or close by. Additional support is available from staff in our Taunton office via the telephone. At times the phones will be frantic, and at other times it will be quiet for 30 minutes or more. During this time the applicant will be progressing other work in the police station section of the firm.
Your role
- Telephone receptionist with prospect of training to advise clients detained in police stations.
- The role is an important pivotal role. Reassuring clients and their families and but also arranging appropriate cover for the police stations and sometimes solicitors for the magistrates courts. Liaising with staff in both offices to ensure that matters are covered and that the diary is kept up to date
Desired skills

4-9 grades English and maths GCSE's:
- Confident with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage reception in conjunction with other administration duties
- Good attention to detail
- Good working knowledge of ICT packages including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to demonstrate or gain a clear understanding of the firm's inhouse systems where training will be given
- Excellent presentation, organisation and timekeeping skills
- Awareness of confidentiality and safeguarding
- The ability to use own initiative, be able to work individually as well as part of a team
- Must be wellpresented with a clear, pleasant telephone manner
- Good organisational skills
- Good client care skills

Training to be provided

Paralegal level 3 cilex apprenticeship
The CILEx Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship is made up of:
- Ethics, professionalism, and legal systems
- Client care and legal research skills
- Law and practice in a field related to the work of the Apprentice
- Administrative duties and working with others in a legal environment.
