This is a career-defining opportunity at the heart of the department of mechanical engineering that promotes problem-based learning and interdisciplinary work.

You will work with a talented team to deliver the vibrant real-world education in excellent facilities. You will deliver and assess a range of current undergraduate and postgraduate modules for the degrees in our portfolio.

You will be expected to contribute to engineering design and manufacturing using advanced integrated CAD/CAM/CAE software packages.

You will engage actively in applied research and contribute to the University's objective of securing an outstanding reputation for research-informed teaching, innovation and integrated academic practice.

You will also be expected to pursue opportunities that will generate income and support students with placements.

The Person:

You will hold a PhD degree or equivalent industrial experience in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline. A recognised teaching/learning qualification would be an advantage.

Work experience in design process and manufacturing and ability to teach CAD/CAM/CAE packages such as NX Siemens PLM Solutions or Solidworks is important.

On a personal level, you will need:

  • to show passion for delivering high-quality teaching using innovative active learning strategies with high practical hands-on contents.
- to demonstrate good communication and teamwork/collaborative skills as you are expected to work within a team. We will also value experience or interest in module leadership and course development.
- to be flexible, willing to learn, adaptable and able to contribute to other areas within the department.

The Faculty:

We have a dedicated campus for our aerospace, aircraft and mechanical engineering courses at Roehampton Vale, on the outskirts of Kingston town centre and close to Richmond Park.

Collaboration between academia and industry is integral to study at Kingston, and the delivery of courses is supported by the Industry Advisory Board and other professional bodies.

If there's one thing we stand for above all else at Kingston University's School of Engineering and the Environment, it's active, problem-based learning.

In short, making sure our students leave us ready for the challenges of the 21st century.

Our challenging curricula and outstanding facilities combine across two campuses to deliver undergraduate, postgraduate and research opportunities in civil engineering and construction, aerospace and aircraft engineering and mechanical and automotive engineering.

Join us and you'll be part of an environment that prides its facilities - from concrete materials and geotechnical laboratories to global navigation satellite systems equipment and facilities for exploring fluid dynamics, engine testing and aerospace.
