Description

The Power and Energy Division of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Manchester, Manchester, UK is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on the development of a roadmap for reskilling and retraining in the area of renewable energy technologies, based on the mapping of regional and international educational, training and engagement shortcomings.

This will serve to identify areas of education, re-training and community engagement that need further development and suggest ways of achieving wider adoption of low carbon technologies and circularity principles.

Some of the main outcomes of this work will be to: 1) identify specific areas for re-training of personnel with different technical background, 2) develop the training curricula and course content for different stakeholders and communities and 3) design internships and stakeholder workshops.

The project will consider the EU Green Deal for achieving sustainable and circular economy within the EU, by exploring the specific areas such as: 1) clean, affordable and secure energy, 2) industrial strategy for clean and circular economy and 3) mainstreaming sustainability in all EU policies.


The appointed Research Associate will collaborate with academic and industrial stakeholders in Europe to ensure industrial relevance and applicability of the developed educational methodology.

This post will require regular meetings with project partners and other stakeholders, preparation of high quality reports, journal and conference publications, presenting research at leading international conferences, as well as the ability to interact effectively with a variety of audiences.
