Description

To work as part of the Cardiology Team to provide an effective support service for Governance activity in accordance with the National Agenda, the Clinical Audit Framework and the Clinical Governance agenda.

This will be achieved through a range of methods through the collection, collation and presentation of data from a variety of sources.

The post holder is expected to provide day to day secretarial and administrative services employing advanced audio typing skills with the use of medical terminology.

The post holder will assist in the organisation of the consultants workload becoming closely involved in all aspects of the Nurse Consultants role liaising with professional bodies where medical staff have additional roles and special interests.


To retrieve raw data from a variety of sources, including medical records and hospital information systems for the purpose of data analysis, reporting and presentation at national, regional and Alliance level.

To maintain current data systems to ensure that data collection is accurate, timely and complete and support the development of new systems.

To provide and maintain established procedures for data validation and statistical analysis. To compile reports of relevant analysis/findings through both written reports and oral presentations.

To represent the Directorate at meetings pertinent to current projects/activity and minute/feedback appropriately. To manage and prioritise work in line with agreed schedules. To attend national, regional and local meetings as required and feedback as appropriate. To be aware of and maintain the confidentiality of all information gained within the working environment.


To participate in the training of staff throughout the organisation in data collection, data systems, reporting and be part of developing the service further, including basic governance principles.

To take responsible care for the health and safety of the post holder and others affected by their acts. The post holder will be required to undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade as required.
