Information about the Role:
The current threat from terrorism to the UK (and overseas) is different to anything we have faced before, requiring a quick response to a constantly changing threat.

Bringing your specialist skills, you will help deliver and support complex and interlinked projects that deliver effective Counter Terrorism measures.
As a unit you will be involved in providing advice and guidance in relation to radiological sources, biological materials, explosive pre cursors and poisons amongst other areas.
The role includes liaison with government departments and agencies, emergency services, senior police managers across the regional CT network and industry associates across the UK.
There is responsibility for training, performance management and quality assurance across the Protect and Prepare Network including that of Counter Terrorism Security Advisors (CTSA), their regional supervisors, and CT Awareness Advisors (CTAA).
To carry out this important role, you will use your excellent communication skills to deliver updates, advice and guidance (through presentations and written reports) to audiences of senior police officers, government officials, security professionals and stakeholders, whilst promoting, supporting and developing initiatives through innovation and collaboration.
The challenges of this role will require you to be self-motivated and work with the minimum of supervision, prioritising and managing a high workload while delivering key updates and projects on time.
You will inform this work with your understanding of the current terrorist threat to the UK and an unwavering commitment to keeping the UK safe.
The post and NaCTSO, also support the functions of the National Coordinator Protect and Prepare (NCPP) as required, which is part of the CT Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ).
Key Tasks
The post holder will be required to do the following:
- Work closely with partners across the police network, government departments (including Homeland Security Group
- HSG and the National Protective Security Authority
- NPSA), and industry associations and bodies.
- To set and deliver CT protective security within broader policy. Key Policy areas include; Safety and security of hazardous sites including radiological, biological and chemical related sites.
- Train, task and quality assure the UK national network of Counter Terrorism Security Advisors (CTSA) and Counter Terrorism Awareness Advisors (CTAA) to ensure national consistency across the wider Protect and Prepare network.
- Ensure provision of specialist skills, advice and guidance in CT protective security to UK and overseas, through appropriately trained CTSAs, CTAAs and across the wider Protect and Prepare network.
- Manage national workstreams, action plans and tasks.
- Coordinate collation and analysis of national performance measurement returns.
- Manage performance improvement and business development work streams.
- Represent NaCTSO on various relevant Police, Government and Industry working groups/committees.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of relevant legislation and policy.
- Produce high quality written reports, presentations and oral briefings for internal and external stakeholders.
- For Police staff Band P to line manage staff as requested and appropriate.
