About the Service/Department

Age Well Services are a key part of Wandsworth Council's approach to transforming adult social care and managing demand by enabling people to retain, gain or regain independence; targeting preventative resources most effectively and ensuring value for money.


Hestia runs a vibrant Age Activity Centre (AAC) in the heart of Tooting; central to our approach is the is a dynamic voluntary and community sector (VCS) working in partnership with the Council, the NHS and other stakeholders (including businesses and faith groups) to help residents access local services that enable them to improve or maintain their overall wellbeing and stay independent for longer.


We have recently been commissioned to lead the open access Age Well Roehampton Service (AWRH), with a focus on using existing assets to support older residents in a range of locations in the community.


About the role

Manage the Age Activity Centre in partnership with the Tutor & Activity Coordinator and to support the Age Well Coordinator working in Roehampton.

The aim of both projects is to provide a range of health and wellbeing activities to support older people to maintain their independence.


Some other main responsibilities of the role include:

  • With the support of Hestia's Fundraising Team and the Service Manager, explore
- opportunities to leverage additional funding and resources from other sources

  • To carry out regular file checks to ensure that all information held is accurate and current and shared with those individuals or community based services as agreed with the service user
  • To ensure the safety of Age Activity Members by spending time on the reception desk to monitor all visitors to the Centre

About you

  • Team management experience including recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal, training, performance management, discipline and grievance processes
  • Proven Track record and good research skills, knowledge of key factors affecting health and wellbeing in older population and the skills and experience to translate into a clear vision, service development and delivery within specific community services in Tooting and Roehampton
  • Able to develop professional working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders; including community services, customers, professionals, from statutory and voluntary organisations and members of the public
  • Demonstrable experience of performance monitoring to ensure a consistently high quality service which adequately meets the needs of individual service users
  • Ability to communicate to a high standard, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience in actively monitoring the health, wellbeing, safety and security of the services and its users ensuring all concerns are followed up promptly and in line with procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately
