About this job:

Gascoigne Road Care home is part of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham resource situated within the Borough.


We are now recruiting to our vacant positions at Gascoigne Road care home which cares for 12 people, living with learning disabilities.


As part of a team, the support workers will provide a flexible, individually tailored residential support service to adults with learning and physical disabilities, enabling them to enjoy as independent a life as possible.

They will be also willing to provide physical, personal and social care to residents, assisting as appropriate with their personal needs e.g.

bathing, toileting, assisting at mealtimes ensuring both an appropriate level of care and the residents dignity and privacy at all times.

To undertake the duties of a key worker by developing a professional working relationship with an identified group of residents and liaising with their families/carers and other staff / agencies involved in their care.


London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, provides extensive training, secondment opportunities, Step up opportunities and enhancement for Bank holidays and shift work.

NVQ2 in Care is required, above all, the desire to care is important to this role.

Special requirements for this post:

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on successful applicants including an Adult DBS check


About you:


As a support worker you will need to have a genuine caring attitude and be dedicated to enabling people with learning disabilities to live their lives the way they want.


You will be flexible, hardworking, have effective communication skills and be able to work in a team and independently with compassion and a drive for excellence at all times.


While some experience in caring is desirable, formal care experience is not necessary as full training and support will be provided.

In addition to this we are looking for people who share our drive values as described in the person specification of the job description
