As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the classroom teacher and helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the classroom teacher in delivering engaging lessons and providing support during classroom activities.
  • Working with small groups or individual students to reinforce learning concepts and provide targeted assistance.
  • Supporting students with additional learning needs, implementing individualised strategies and accommodations.
  • Fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment, building rapport and trust with students.
  • Assisting with classroom management, including behaviour management and maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Collaborating with teachers and other support staff to ensure the overall wellbeing and progress of students.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks, such as preparing teaching materials and maintaining student records.
  • Contributing to the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities and educational outings.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting, preferably as a teaching assistant or similar role.
  • A genuine passion for education and a strong desire to support the learning and development of young learners.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach when working with children.
  • Understanding of primary education principles and an eagerness to learn and grow in the role.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Basic administrative skills and the ability to assist with classroom organisation and recordkeeping.
  • Commitment to the wellbeing and safeguarding of children.
