Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Officer to join the Dorset, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Safeguarding Adults Boards (DBCPSAB) Business Team, qualifications to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent is preferred.

You should have significant appropriate work experience in project management with a track record of successful project working and delivery, as well as skills in IT and written and verbal communication.

Experience of working on developing and delivering projects around the theme of working with people would be an advantage.


The Business Team is comprised of two Business Managers and an Administrator, who work with the Independent Chair of the Safeguarding Adults Boards, to ensure that strategic partners of the Boards fulfil their duties to safeguard vulnerable people with care and support needs.

BCP Council hosts the DBCPSABs Business Team, however the Business Team operates independently.

This post offers a hybrid method of working, you will be based at the Civic Centre in Bournemouth but have the flexibility to work from home.

You will, on occasions, be asked to attend face-to-face meetings which may be held within the county of Dorset.

The Boards holds quarterly meetings, as do the three subgroups of the Boards. Most of these meetings are via Microsoft Teams, but some will be in person.

The subgroups work to the Boards' Strategic Plan, the project work will be developed from the Strategic Plan, identified projects from the subgroups and that of the Boards.


You will need great organisational skills to manage a varied workload of several projects, and will have the opportunity to work independently as well as with colleagues.

You will need to have the necessary skills to develop and manage the projects which may require you to complete a formal report and present to a group.

Some projects may lend themselves to setting up groups of interested people, representing Board partners, and to develop the project from these leads.

Projects may also develop from the learning of past Safeguarding Adult Reviews both locally and nationally.

The Safeguarding Adults Boards has its own website.

The successful person will support in the development of the website to ensure that it is current and an increasingly inclusive website in line with best practice.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for the role.
