An SEN school for ages 4-19 in Richmond, near Twickenham station, is looking for both full and part-time SEN Teaching Assistants to join their expert team.

They cater for students with severe and complex learning difficulties including those with an additionaldiagnosis of autism and/or physical/sensory disabilities.

The school is committed to supporting all of their learners to achieve and enjoy and be stimulated and challenged to fulfil their potential.


The role would be a combination of supporting small class sizes of - 9 children and 1:1 work, therefore being flexible and proactive is key.

Their 'small schools' and small class sizes ensure that all learners benefit from a consistent and supportive approachfrom all staff, including therapists, and are given every opportunity to thrive and develop as individuals.

They're looking for staff whose constant focus is always on what will make the biggest impact for the individual learner.

Pay can be up to £120 a day, depending on experience and if you can impress during a paid trial, which the school is more than happy to arrange to give you a real taste.

Experience is by no means required,so this is a great opportunity if you're looking to kick start a career in special education or just develop your existing skills further.

The school's hours of this role are 8.30am - 4pm.

The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant should:

  • Have experience or a passion for working with children with SEN
  • Be flexible, proactive and patient
  • Be nurturing and caring in your approaches
  • Be able to communicate effectively within a team
  • Be open to providing personal care
  • Have a Background in Education, Care, Psychology or Drama, as these are very transferable.
  • Training or experience in nonverbal communication is preferred, but a willingness to learn is essential. For example Makaton, PECS
