Refuse and Street Cleansing Environmental Manager

Salary:
£36,434.00 per annum, plus employee bonus scheme and other Veolia benefits


Hours:40 hours per week Monday to Friday with 30 minutes unpaid break. Rostered weekend working (8 hours working 1 in every 4 weekends)

What will you be doing?

  • To fully manage the day-to-day activities across all operations for the Refuse &
Recycling and Street Cleansing services and be responsible for the operational service in the designated depot.

  • Lead a team to meet the contract objectives and deliver the best service to the Client and residents.
  • Manage the contract KPI's, understand the SLA's and take responsibility for all Echorelated service tasks and functions
  • Meet, operational and compliance targets.
  • Compliance with all Health and Safety policies and procedures and
  • Ensuring a robust safety culture within the contract.
  • Undertake risk assessments, maintain accurate records, perform monitoring checks, timely accident investigations, back-to-work forms and other documentation as required.
  • Deliver a high-profile management style, being visible in your area, monitoring
standards, talking to customers (council officers, residents, businesses, and the general public), and building relationships.

  • Develop and maintain a strong partnership relationship with the Client team, working collaboratively to resolve any problems that arise and undertaking the joint inspections required on the contract.
  • Ensure all employees undertake the required training, that any agency workers have induction training and that all of the training is recorded in their personnel files. Give toolbox talks as/when required.
  • Be responsible for all people management activities of the operational team including welfare, and performance. attendance, discipline, grievances and training dealing with all matters in an effective and timely manner.
  • Ensure the budget is met through maximising productivity and cost control, checks on holiday rotas and overtime, and controls on requests for goods, services and suppliers.

What are we looking for?

Essential:


  • Knowledge of fleet and road transport law
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Previous people management experience
  • Ability to build working relationships
  • High level of IT literacy
  • Good presentation skills e.g. addressing workforce and doing a training session/toolboxtalk
  • Ability to understand and interrogate performance data

Desirable:


  • Experience of working in areas with high footfall and tourist areas
  • Experience working with a client Team
  • Planning and managing special events
  • Dealing with conflict and difficult people
  • Familiarity with contract and applicable BoQ rates
  • Understanding of budgets, cost monitoring and control and deadlines.
  • Full UK HGV Driving Licence
