Position Description

A Senior QA Specialist position has arisen for an enthusiastic, quality/detail driven colleague to join the Instrumentation team within the Quality Assurance department at QIAGEN Manchester on an 18-month fixed-term contract basis.

The successful applicant will join the team responsible for assuring the quality of QIAGENs instrumentation portfolio, working on IVD products designed to make improvements in life possible.

These are vital roles, working with multifunctional and sometimes cross-site teams.

As such, a working knowledge of standards and regulations (ISO13485, 21CFR820, MDSAP) is necessary, together with demonstrable good communication and teamworking skills.

Additionally the position holder may have responsibility for ownership of part of the Quality Management System.


We are ideally looking for individuals with a background in IVD instrumentation although applicants from regulated industries will be considered.

The successful applicant will join a team of Instrumentation QA professionals, with responsibilities both to the activities of the QIAGEN Manchester site as well as to the larger global organisation.


Key responsibilities:

  • Leading crossfunctional, multinational instrument customer complaint evaluation teams
  • Supporting QIAGEN Instrument platform teams, providing guidance on QA topics
  • Providing QA guidance to instrument development projects
  • Interacting with the Supplier Quality Assurance team regarding supplier quality issues
  • Participating in quality system improvement projects

Position Requirements

  • Degree in Biology and/or Engineering discipline and/or relevant work experience in a QA/Engineering discipline
  • Professional experience in the fields of CAPA and Complaints
  • Practical experience in a regulated environment, e.g. IVD instruments (ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 820, MDSAP)
  • Method competence in QA investigational techniques such as root cause analysis and risk analysis
  • Strong understanding of design controls in a regulated environment
  • Experience in digital PCR techniques and instrumentation is desirable
