We are looking to recruit an experienced Plant Fitter / Chargehand for our South East (Rochester, Kent) Workshop.


Key Responsibilities of the Role:

• Lead a small team in the safe and efficient operation of a dedicated workshop providing repair and maintenance for a fleet of 1218 HGV's.
• Ensure vehicles are maintained above the minimum standards required by the DVSA This includes planning the maintenance of the fleet.
• Provide standby and out of hours callout cover when required
• Ensure vehicles are maintained in line with the service planner.
• Undertake vehicle and equipment inspections, service and repairs on a mixed fleet of vehicles, in accordance with company policy.
• Have the opportunity to work on a range of vehicles from light commercial to HGV
• Ensure Health & Safety compliance at all times
• Maintain workshop related paperwork and computer systems to compliant standard

Technical Skills:

Experienced mechanic (Level 2 plus qualified desirable)

Be familiar with modern fault code reader diagnostic systems

Have knowledge of HGV chassis manufacturers and specialist equipment mounted on vehicles (desirable)

Hold a Category C driving licence


Skills Required:

• Ability to work unsupervised
• High standard of work
• Work well within a team as well as the ability to use own initiative
• Be flexible around working hours and days
• Complete tasks to specified timescales
• Be organised with daytoday paperwork (eg job sheets and parts ordering)
• Hold relevant licences to drive or test vehicles and equipment

Overtime is payable at time + half after 45 hours.

Company van will be provided
