Trainee Design Associate - Cambridge
We have an incredibly exciting opportunity for a Trainee Design Associate to join our Cambridge showroom.


Harvey Jones have hand built more than 15,000 bespoke kitchens and know exactly what it takes to deliver furniture that our clients are proud to use and have in their homes.

We craft our kitchens in five simple, beautifully made designs.

They are built tolast using traditional construction techniques, and each design can be customised and personalised to our clients' exact needs and tastes.

We are a growing company with 27 showrooms across the UK and plans to open more, and our award-winning ranges and projectsare regularly featured across magazines, newspapers, and design websites.


We have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and energetic Trainee Design Associate to join to join the team in our Cambridge showroom.


To support the Harvey Jones client journey as final design decisions, move to full client order confirmation and to production-ready manufacturing order.

The role is intended to enable Kitchen Designers to dedicate maximum time to sales and design activitywhile ensuring the production, procurement and installation functions are working with specifications which support a right-first-time approach and minimise error, remedial cost and delay.

The Role:


  • Showroom upkeep and maintenance (health & safety; stock stationary orders and monitoring; showroom presentation.
  • Managing administration duties (client communication; filing; petty cash).
  • Showroom diary management to ensure sales cover.
  • Liaising and building professional relationship with teams across the business.
  • Assisting with the ordering of appliances, worktops, and accessories
  • Updating and maintaining accurate job costing sheets
  • Tracking orders to ensure progression to meet deadlines and targets for spec flow, delivery and sign off.
  • In the absence of a sales designer, meeting and greeting walk in prospective clients as per training provided.
  • Dealing with customers complaints according to company's procedures.
  • Logging and chasing payments and credits (clients and suppliers).
  • Conduct structured handover meetings with Kitchen Designers to specify orders. and get orders checked ready for client to sign off and order submission.
  • Actioning points raised post survey and amend ArtiCAD plans where necessary.
  • Providing a welcome to potential clients, when there is no Kitchen Designer present or available, ensuring the conversation is in line with company brand guidelines and supports the onward client journey.

Person Profile:


  • You will have previous work experience in an administrative role preferably sales admin.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate in producing information.
  • Ability to prioritise work and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team or alone.
  • Will be highly organised and able to coordinate projects through to completion
  • Ability to think on your feet and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Experience using Arti-CAD is beneficial.
  • Able to influence others when necessary.
  • May on occasion travel to other showroom locations.
