Alexander Daniels have been exclusively engaged by a leading manufacturing business in Walsall to help them recruit and experienced Supply Chain Manager.

Responsible to the Finance Director, the Head of Supply Chain will be responsible for managing and motivating a team of supply chain staff which will incorporate logistics, procurement, and stores with the objective of improving overall supply chain performance.

The Head of Supply Chain will actively look at improving and implementing new processes, will continue to develop new and existing relationships with suppliers whilst managing and minimising the risks that could affect or interrupt the supply chain.

This is a new position bringing together the different teams under a leader who will understand the drivers of Total Acquisition Cost, Supply Chain risks and Sustainability, through creating a Supply Chain team to drive the business forward with its futuregrowth plans.

Salary on offer is £50k to £60k dependant on experience + excellent benefits_

The Head of Supply Chains duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and implement the overall supply chain strategy in line with business growth plans.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Engineering and Customer Service teams
  • Determine and implement key supply chain KPIs
  • Support and promote Improvement projects within the teams
  • Identify process bottleneck and implement solutions in a timely manner
  • Train, mentor, and coach direct reports providing constructive feedback
  • Work with finance, sales, and manufacturing team to determine the best routes of supply.
  • Build and maintain positive strategic relationships with suppliers

The successful Head of Supply Chain will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Experience of stakeholder management
  • Experience in a medium sized manufacturing business
  • Experience in business transformation
  • At least five years' experience in a supply chain leadership role, or equivalent
  • Likely to be MCIPS qualified or with a relevant degree Strong planning skills
  • A logical and systematic approach to work
  • The ability to solve problems and make decisions, as well as to think strategically and laterally
  • Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams
  • Possess very strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Business management and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • IT literacy, skills in Excel and the ability to handle electronic data
  • An understanding of risk management in the context of the supply chain
