We're looking for bold and remarkable people who care. Can you make a difference to the lives of disabled people?

Capability Scotland is a well-established and respected provider of a community-based Facilitation Service throughout Dumfries and Galloway which supports people who have a physical disability to engage in employment, education, volunteering and activities of their choice within their local communities.

We have recently expanded our services which now include a number of other well established services throughout the Region including a Self-Directed Support Brokerage, Community based support for people who have an Acquired Brain Injury and a Child and Families Outreach Service.

About the role

We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to provide an innovative, flexible, person centered facilitation service to people with a physical disability based on individual assessed needs.

You will also be required to undertake a key working role and assist the Team Leader to maximise customer outcomes.

This role does not involve personal care or medication support (unless in an emergency). The role involves lone working.

The role involves a degree of physical activity which includes pushing wheelchairs and providing physical support to our customers. This post is for 30 hours per week on a permanent basis. Whilst our administrative office is in Dumfries, this post will be based in Nithsdale and Upper Nithsdale.

What our staff say about the role:
'I've worked with Capability Scotland for 14 years and I've never had so much fun. I get to do things I've never done before, I've gained so much knowledge and skills all whilst supporting people with a physical disability to reach their potential and make a positive difference'

'I recently made the leap from a self-employed dog groomer to being employed as a support worker with Capability Scotland. It was a huge leap of faith, giving up 14 years of knowledge in my previous profession. But now, nearly 5months in, I'm actually realising it wasn't. I'm learning lots of new skills and increasing my knowledge in the health and social care sector but the key to the role is taking a person-centred approach. I have always enjoyed listening and talking with people, and now I get to help people with a physical disability to live as positive a life as possible and help them achieve their goals. So, please don't let a lack of experience in social care put you off - if you care about people then that is what Capability Scotland is all about'
