The Team:

The Sun Online is the biggest mobile news brand in the UK - and still growing - talented team who publish the best coverage of news, sport, TV and showbiz, lifestyle and family values.


Your role:

We are looking for a Motors Editor to join our online team to lead our digital strategy, manage freelancers and produce news stories, features and video for The Sun's website.

We need a talented, committed journalist to become a key member of this team.


Day to day you will:


  • Generate a daily list of quality editorial ideas which will get strong, engaged traffic for and across our social platforms
  • Devise and constantly develop digital content strategy, working closely with the Audience team
  • Spot and produce brilliant, trafficdriving stories and always beat competitors to the biggest talkers of the day
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to deliver vibrant and clean copy at speed
  • Ability to write brilliant headlines in the famous Sun style
  • Interpret complex research or information, boiling down the key facts and presenting them in fun and easytounderstand way
  • Have awareness of, and passion for, the commercial opportunities in digital Motors content and ideally have strong contacts in this world or be willing to build them
  • Keep on top of motors trends and spot emerging trends to best enhance your contribution
  • Research, develop and organise future story development

What we're looking for from you:

  • Experience of using analytics to drive increasing traffic by learning what works best
  • Knowledge of cars and motors and how to present this to the broad Sun audience
  • Two years experience reporting on motors or general news for a national website
  • Positive with a cando attitude, who takes initiative and is a good team player
  • A strong understanding of The Sun's online audience
  • Knowledge of social media, SEO and online publishing
  • Being a selfstarter is key and you will need to thrive under the pressure of a busy newsroom
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the IPSO Code of Conduct, media law and ethical considerations
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of The Sun brand, both print and digital
  • Willingness to work flexible hours over a sevenday rota pattern
