Summary

As part of a small technical team undertaking maintenance, repair and rudimentary fault finding on rail vehicles, ensuring that the Rolling stock Fleet are operated safely.

Job Overview

To undertake all types of Mechanical & Electrical maintenance work, repair and fault finding on Rolling Stock to ensure that we provide our customer with a reliable, safe and defect free train.

The Technician will be responsible for ensuring that any maintenance they have undertaken at the depot is done so in accordance with the companies' safety regulations.

Any maintenance undertaken by the Technician should not infringe on the customers timetableunless the safety of the set is compromised.

The position of Technician is a key Safety Critical position and is a requirement against the Service Agreement (SA). This position is the key focal point for the safe and reliable running of the fleet.
To take responsibility for the safe, efficient and professional workmanship of self and others under their charge.
Undertake detailed fault finding and investigation on specific technical issues.
Identify possible improvements and feedback into Engineering.
Compliance with all laid down H&S legislation and depot procedures to ensure a safe accident free environment.
Required to continually look at opportunities to adopt and develop continuous improvement techniques.
Co-operate with management in all matters relating to Health and Safety
Advise of any defects/deficiencies in equipment/arrangements that could compromise the Health and Safety of themselves and others
The Technician will be responsible for amending Companies Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMI's) and Network Rails rule book as well as the day to day paperwork requirements for running operations within Central London
You will take lead responsibility for maintenance matters and for your own personal efficiency.

Consequently the company will rely on you to be highly professional and able to work on your own initiative, as well as being a good written and verbal communicatorwho can liaise with customers, suppliers and engineering staff and produce reports on failures, derailments and other incidents.

Drive continuous improvement through the implementation of lean methodologies and techniques.

Knowledge and experience
You will be a highly self-motivated individual, able to work under your own initiative and work in a team. You will possess excellent communication & interpersonal skills. You will need extensive all-round knowledge of modern rolling stock systems, experienceof depot operations and fault finding techniques.

KEY KNOWLEDGE:
Electrical Engineering & Mechanical Engineering
Pneumatics / Hydraulics / Compressors / Pneumatic Actuators
MUST be able to read and work from a Pneumatic circuit diagram
MUST be able to read and work from an Electrical schematic diagram
Aerospace / Aircraft Maintenance - Routine Maintenance on Aircraft
Defence - Routine Maintenance on Submarines / Ships
EX Forces Electrical Engineer - Routine Maintenance on Aircraft/ helicopters/ HGV
Mechanical Maintenance Technician - Routine Maintenance on Production line machinery
Electrical Maintenance Technician - Routine Maintenance on Production line machinery
Electrical Infrastructure Technician - Routine Maintenance on Rail Depot / Rail Station

Qualifications:

Completion of a recognised apprenticeship (electrical or mechanical apprenticeship)
Educated to high standard in an engineering discipline, (i.e. HND/HNC).
