An exciting opportunity for a Pupil Care and Welfare Officer has arisen at Bertha Park High School.

We are looking for someone to fill a frontline, high-profile and hands-on role with children and young people. We need a highly visible, confident, and resilient person to interact with pupils. Tasks may involve problem-solving, de-escalation, supporting class attendance, and listening to young people's concerns.

As well as plenty of energy, you'll need excellent communication skills as building and maintaining positive relationships with pupils are key to this role.

You will be someone the pupils can trust and can confide in.

The Individual:

Ideally, you will have experience of working with people: adults and children.

There are no formal qualifications required for this post; the correct mindset, dedication, attitude, and ability to form and maintain relationships are much more important.

You must be able to handle sometimes tricky issues with tact and sensitivity, be tolerant and resilient with individuals and groups of young people, knowing that there is a full team to support you.

A school is very much a real-time environment, so you must be alert and ready to respond to challenges as they arise.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor pupil attendance and associated contact tasks
  • Contact parents on routine matters
  • Promote our ethos and values
  • Provide support and challenge for pupils
  • Help maintain safe conduct of pupils in nonteaching areas of school
  • Be a first point of contact for pupils on routine issues
  • Liaise with and relaying messages to Guidance colleagues.
  • Undertake any other relevant duties which may be allocated as and when required
