The role


The USV Operator is involved in the testing, trialling and operating of SEA-KIT's fleet of uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) from both remote and local control stations.

The role involves working with systems engineers and technicians on the development, integration and testing of new technology, and being heavily involved in the operations side of new vessel builds.


The role includes managing work as part of the vessels' build schedule, performing quality control checks, fault-finding, undertaking remedial work as required and (de-)mobilizing vessels in preparation for launches and transportation.


Responsibilities

  • Conducting new vessel testing & sea trials utilising an online portal.
  • Carrying out and demonstrating predefined USV tests to ensure that the vessel meets all operational criteria/specifications.
  • Reporting on testing and trials progress to line manager.
  • Expanding testing programmes and defining additional tests as required.
  • Carrying out quality control checks and resolving snagging issues.
  • Detailed recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Working with clients to help with the integration of new systems and ensuring that all requirements are met.
  • Managing the vessel's maintenance schedule.
  • Handson involvement in vessel build and packup during mobilisation phases.
  • Piloting the USV from either onboard or lineofsight control positions.
  • Remotely piloting the USV from a Local Operations Centre (LOC).
  • Assisting with writing vessel procedures and technical documents.
  • Ensuring adherence to the company's standard operating procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with company HSE requirements.

Who we're looking for
You must have the right to work in the UK. You have MCA Master200 minimum & STCW95. You have Extensive sea-going experience and experience in uncrewed/autonomous vessel operations is a bonus. Competent in IT with a genuine interest in uncrewed maritime systems and future technology.

You have excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team.

You will typically work a standard week. However, flexibility is essential, especially at critical moments when operational needs arise. Some out-of-hours and weekend work may be required.

You will need to be flexible as there will be some travel requirements between sites in the UK. There may also be the occasional requirement for international travel to sites abroad for vessel trials and/or operations.
