We are Termate Ltd, Encompass Group's manufacturing division specialised in low voltage power distribution and control sector, a long established but small business with a proud heritage and technical competencies that retain a friendly, family-like workingenvironment.

We are going through a period of expansion through success in sales of standard and bespoke products and are looking for a Design Engineer to join our team in our New Basford, Nottingham offices.

The Role:

With a technical background in either design, customer support or manufacturing you will be reporting to the Technical Manager, tackling projects for the continuous development and improvement of the business' product portfolio.

The role's key responsibilitiesare interfacing with customers to support the sales team with a thorough evaluation of the requirements, new product design, product improvement and creation of technical datasheets.

About you:

You are a customer-oriented and detail-focused individual, able to liaise with customers in a clear but technical manner.


Responsibilities:

• Ability to talk and offer support to customers at a high level.
• Support sales ensuring all technical enquiries are answered in the most exhaustive and nonambiguous way.
• Coordinate, assess and drive through to project completion having customer requirements at heart.
• Read and determine information from drawings, schedules and specification.
• Preparation of drawings from ideas and concept sketches using CAD software.
• Production of accurate 3D parts and related information from drawings.
• Actively participate with enthusiasm in identifying product improvements.
• Be in charge of assessing, designing/programming and quoting CNC machining enquiries.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent computer literacy in Office 365 packages (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Timeserved apprenticeship or HNC/HND/Degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical/Mechanical).
• Ideally 5+ years' experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of /previous experience with CAD/CAM Software (Fusion 360 preferred) and CNC machining (routing/milling).

Desired Skills:

• Working experience in a plastic moulding facility with knowledge of machining and/or moulding plastics or composites would be an advantage.
• Experience of jig and fixture development.
