The Gastroenteroloy Department is currently looking to recruit a Rota Co-ordinator.


This varied and interesting combined post requires excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, and the ability to communicate at all levels.

A flexible approach is essential, as is the need to be self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks/objectives working to deadlines.


You will have excellent customer service skills, be committed to providing a high quality service to patients and hospital staff including senior clinicians.

This is an exciting opportunity that involves working as part of a busy but friendly department. This role will provide you with the opportunity to enhance and develop your skills within a dedicated team.

  • Coordinate the medical staff rota ensuring all relevant parties are aware of their responsibilities and are advised of any changes.
  • Ensure that there is appropriate medical staff cover in outpatient clinics.
  • Ensure that there is appropriate medical staff cover in both elective and emergency theatres.
  • Liaise regularly with the consultants, middle grade and secretaries regarding the rota and the setting up of additional clinics and theatres when required.
  • Liaise regularly with the Endoscopy Manager regarding the rota ensuring theatre lists are fully utilised, backfilling with middle grades (dependent on experience and capability) when Consultants are away.
  • To support the Specialty Manager in the day to day management of the rota, problem solving issues as they arise, to ensure the delivery of elective, nonelective and on call commitments.
