About The Role


Location:
Paulsgrove, Portsmouth


Hours:
Monday to Thursday, 6:30am to 8:30am and 3:45pm to 8:30pm, Friday, 6:30am to 8:30am and 1:30pm to 8:30pm and Saturday and Sunday, 7:30am to 4pm


Additional hours are available in the school holidays and Bank hours are available to cover absences of the team. Please note the permanent hours can be worked by more than one person.

Pay:
£16 per hour, Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 8:30am, £15 per hour, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 11pm, £17 per hour, Weekends and Bank Holidays, 6:30am to 8:30am and £16 per hour, Weekends and Bank Holidays, 8:30am to 11pm


Benefits:

Support and regular supervision provided, 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata, DBS check, full induction, relevant and ongoing training (including The Care Certificate).

On-going support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR department


Essential:
Experience caring for clients with complex medical needs, carrying out PEG feeding and supporting a child with Cerebral Palsy

Desirable:
Experience working with children with trauma and an interest in therapy.

Driver:
You will be required to drive our client's Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV). A full driving licence is required (endorsements to be disclosed)


Abbie is a very happy young girl, she was born in 2009 and lives at home with her parents and siblings.

She enjoys the outdoors and going on walks and days out with her family. She enjoys being active and engaging with others.

She really enjoys swimming and attending activity groups, she can be described as a bit of an adrenaline junkie Abbie enjoys watching Disney films and loves singing and listening to music.


Abbie has Cerebral Palsy and learning difficulties and is reliant on others for all aspects of her care, mobility and nutritional needs.

Your role will be to provide Abbie with help to get up in the morning, wash and dress and administer her feeds via PEG to meet with her calorific requirements.

Abbie uses a wheelchair to mobilise and is registered blind, however she can see shapes and can distinguish faces.

Main Skills and Behaviours
Abbie will require a *Female Support Worker as you will be required to carry out her personal care.

You should have experience of working with someone who has Cerebral Palsy, PEG feeding and learning difficulties and be able to work with specialist equipment, (training will be provided).

A Handling Management Plan is available, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.


Naturally, you will be confident and comfortable working in Abbie's own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of her and her family.

By nature, you should be friendly, approachable and have encouraging approach.


Great organisational skills, punctual, patient, and reliable qualities are something Abbie will rely on so this is key in supporting her.
