Tea-Sipping Irees

Written by C.S. Colvin

The American Chestnut tree was once a great species of tree most noted
along the eastern regions of the United States. The estimated number of
trees were in the billions, and they were some of the largest and tallest
trees in America. Majestic, the trees were written about in songs and
stories, but a deadly blight from Asia in the early 1900°s all but drove the
great tree into extinction. Scientists are working on a blight resistant
species of the American Chestnut. If you're interested in helping, please

consider donations of your time or financial contributions to the American
Chestnut Foundation as we work toward preserving a great American icon.
