Geographic Position
A

Being ot the North Edst of Scotland, the
flag highlight its NE position, based on
the Saltire Scottish flag (St Andrew's
Cross). This part is like an arrow starting
from SW reaching NE position

B.&C.

Aberdeenshire county is surrounded, on
one side, by the dork stones from Caims
ond on the other side, by the Sea with oll
its activities from fishing, oil extraction.
wind farm, etc.

B. Top Black triangle (top left) represent
mounts and rocks from The Caimgorms,
which are part of the Grampians. Block

sporkles are also present in the granites
produced in the area.

C. Blue triangle (bottom right), hos the
some blue used in the Scottish flog (300C
Blue) and represent the Sea and the Sky.

Agriculture

D. A Golden Yellow highlight the
richness of this county ond represent the
cultivated land, seasons after seasons.
And stand for the various shades of yel-
low, from the gorses, the daffodils, pota-
toes, rapeseed, grains of wheat, barley

People’s quality

F. The THISTLE

The prickly purple thistle, which is also National Scot-
tish flower is a symbol of resilience

People in Aberdeenshire are extremely resilient, from
farmers wha hove found ways to adopt and inno-
vate, fisherman and people working on the oil ex-
troction, we con see every day the proof of everyone
resilience.

G. Pictish Cross
This thistle sit on o Cross made of pictish knots. a
symbol of protection,

 

As Aberdeenshire is one of the heartlands of the Pic-
tish community, and has a long trail of stones around
the country. it wos important to incorporate this pot-
nmony in Aberdeenshire’s flog. The cross resonate
as o chnstian symbol, but in pagan culture, is seen os
the Tree of Life

H. The Blason
The Heart of this flag contains the Thistle, with or
without the blason shape around it
