Everest Syndicate 2786 is a multi-line Lloyd's syndicate managed by a third-party managing agency and is fully capitalized by Everest Reinsurance.


This position will be based in our London office and Lloyd's box with a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week.


Core Responsibilities:

  • The day to day running of Everest Syndicate 2786, including direct management of reporting lines.
  • Drive the ambitious expansion of the UK Casualty book with a core focus on the Everest Syndicate in line with business plans and underwriting strategy, whilst maintaining a focus on bottom line underwriting profit.
  • Contribute to the underwriting strategy direction and drive the execution.
  • Actively participate in execution of the marketing plan, including maintenance of existing broker & customer relationships and developing new relationships, where this is consistent with the objectives set in the Business Plan.
  • Actively invest and be able to demonstrate an expansion of underwriting and product knowledge, through dedicated training (internal and external) and working with other underwriters on specific accounts.
  • Manage the portfolio of renewal business, including underwriting & pricing, claims, referral, processing, broker, and client relationship aspects; and servicing any new business request in the same way.
  • Represent Everest at meetings both in the office and during visits to brokers, cover holders and other customers as required.
  • Support the Head of UK Casualty as required, and other underwriters on specific accounts.
  • Data entry to support / maintain MI.
  • To refer as appropriate risks exceeding delegated underwriting authority and underwrite in compliance with Everest prescribed underwriting standards.
  • To monitor all relevant portfolio KPIs and support the Head of UK & I Casualty across the broader portfolio.
  • To liaise with the Claims Manager on claims related issues.
  • To lead the underwriting peer review process at the weekly and monthly underwriting meetings, as required.
  • To monitor and keep abreast of changes in underwriting, regulation, and compliance.
  • Support in the improvement of rating models, underwriting manuals, service standards, marketing materials, website as required
  • Business travel as required to support the above objectives, and the appropriate management of expenses.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong technical knowledge of Casualty from an underwriting or broking background, with experience of working on Employers Liability, Public and Products Liability both from a Primary and Excess of Loss basis. With experience of domestic, multinational, and international business. Including portfolio and people management skills.
  • Strategic skills demonstrate leadership to determine opportunities and threats through comprehensive analysis of current and future trends that may impact our business.
  • Judgment and decisionmaking skills show ability to use logic rationality and objectivity in decision making.
  • Risk taking demonstrate strong ability to develop a sound underwriting view to take calculated risks with favorable outcomes.
  • Market and product knowledge thorough market knowledge including competitor profiles and products.
  • Relationship management well developed ability to establish and maintain sound relationships both internally and externally.
  • Compliance ability to understand and ensure compliance with all internal and external management and regulatory controls, with appropriate support.
  • Progression towards ACII qualification, or desire to complete.
