    Job summary

    Receptionist Band 219 hours per week over 2 days. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join oursmall & friendly team at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. We are lookingfor an enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent interpersonalskills to work as a Receptionist for the Cardiac Physiology Service. Theservice is based across the Cardiology Suite and the Cardiac Device Suite on ALevel at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. The department provides specialistassessment and support for people with heart conditions and implantable cardiacdevices.You will be an integral member of the CardiacPhysiology team, working within the reception areas and providing specialistadmin support to the Cardiac Physiologists. Candidates should have experienceworking in a clerical role, possess a professional attitude and be able to workflexibly in a busy environment. You ideally will have experience of working ina hospital reception environment and be familiar with administrative processesand practices. You will be required to work as part of a team as well as beingable to use your initiative and prioritise your workload. Good computer skillsand qualifications to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent are expected.To enable you to experience our workingenvironment we encourage you to come to the department for an informal visitand discussion.     Main duties of the job

    Performing general receptionduties as necessaryClose contact and co-operation with colleagues,patients and members of the publicEnsure accurate maintenance of the departmentalappointment systemExplanation (non-clinical) about procedure typesand booking arrangements for procedures undertaken by the Cardiac Physiologyteams, to medical staff, nursing staff, clerical staff and patientsOrganisation of appointment and transport /portering arrangements for in- patient and outpatients, liaising with otherdepartmental staff as necessaryDealing with general telephone and face to faceenquiries from patients and their relatives, including relaying difficultinformation relating to waiting times for investigations and clinicsOrganisation of appointments for patientsrequiring cardiac investigations, ensuring cancelled appointment arere-appointed and that all available appointments are filledDirects urgent referrals or queries to healthcareprofessionalsProvides specialist administrative support to allCardiac Physiology Services in both the Cardiology Suite and Cardiac DeviceSuitePulling and filing Device Records for patientsattending Cardiac Device ClinicsSends Identification cards and letters to patientsLiaising with Cardiology staff at other hospitalsto obtain reportsLiaising with Cardiology secretaries to checkstatus of referralsScanning reports into the electronic CardiacDevice Database

  • Competence in word processing/ data entry/ general administrative tasks
  • Qualification to GCSE level C
  • Experience

  • Experience of work in an administrative or clerical role
  • Desirable

  • Relevant experience working in a hospital environment
  • Experience in receiving patients, dealing with telephone enquiries, sending out appointments, liaising with health care professionals

  • Knowledge of basic office administration, word processing

  • Knowledge of the organisation and administrative processes within cardiology and the hospital as a whole.
  • Familiarity with hospital and departmental computer systems. This knowledge will be supplied by in-post training if not already held.
