Job Introduction
It is a fantastic time to join
Reach PLC, as we are currently looking for a talented and experienced
Regional Sub Editor to join us in the
North West.
This will include page design, subbing and the general production requirement of the print department, including flat plan management as required.
We are looking for someone with previous experience in designing, sub editing and proofing pages, with excellent multi tasking and time management skills.
You will have a close working relationship with the Print Editor and are expected to develop positive relationships across departments including content teams, Newspaper Sales, Commercial and Marketing.
We're looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.
Key Responsibilities
What will the role involve?
You will be responsible for editing copy to fit allocated space and fact-checking copy to ensure accuracy at all times.
You will handle changing stories and updates with ease, updating copy quickly and accurately. You will also make sure all copy is legally sound and meets IPSO guidelines and Reach's standards. This position will involve weekend working so a flexible approach is required.
Who are we looking for?
An experienced journalist with your
NCTJ or equivalent qualification and
media law knowledge, you will have a depth of experience in journalism, at a national or large regional title.
You will have extensive knowledge of the intricacies of print news, with a proven track record of sub editing for print titles.
You have the knowledge and skill to judge if copy needs to be edited and when required, the ability to rewrite accurate copy quickly and efficiently.
