Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Security Officer to join our team at Nottingham's Homeless Housing.

As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and staff.

You will be responsible for maintaining a secure and orderly environment while offering empathy and understanding to the diverse needs of the women in our care.


Responsibilities:


Security Monitoring:

Maintain a constant presence at the hostel entrance and monitor all incoming and outgoing individuals to ensure only authorized personnel are granted access.


Crisis Intervention:

Handle potential security and behavioural issues calmly and professionally, using de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution skills to defuse tense situations.


Surveillance:

Utilize security cameras and conduct regular patrols throughout the premises to prevent and detect any potential security breaches or disturbances.


Emergency Response:

Respond promptly to any emergency situations, including medical incidents, fire alarms, or other critical incidents, and initiate appropriate protocols as necessary.


Access Control:
Implement and enforce access control measures to safeguard the confidentiality and safety of residents and staff.

Visitor Management:
Verify the identity and purpose of all visitors before permitting entry, ensuring compliance with hostel policies and procedures.

Collaborate with Staff:

Work closely with the hostel's management team and support staff to address any security concerns and contribute to a safe and inclusive living environment.


Supportive Approach:

Demonstrate empathy, respect, and understanding to the unique challenges faced by homeless women, fostering a caring and supportive atmosphere.


Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate logs and incident reports, documenting all security
- related activities and incidents during shifts.

Attend Training:

Participate in regular training sessions to enhance your knowledge of security protocols, hostel policies, and relevant laws to effectively perform the job.


Requirements:


Experience:
Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.

Empathy and Sensitivity:
Display genuine compassion, empathy, and non-judgmental attitude towards homeless people and their circumstances.

Conflict Resolution:
Proficient in conflict de-escalation techniques and able to handle stressful situations with composure.

Physical Fitness:
Capable of performing regular patrols and able to respond swiftly during emergencies.

Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, staff, and visitors.

Team Player:

Willingness to collaborate with others and work as part of a cohesive team dedicated to the well-being of the hostel's residents.


Background Check:
Successful completion of a thorough background check, including criminal history and employment verification.
