An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the trust as a Patient Advice and Liaison (PALS) Officer.

Under the direction of the Customer Care Manager, the PALS Officer will be part of a Customer Care Team who provide a service to patients, relatives and carers who use East Cheshire NHS Trust and will be expected to:

Respond to concerns and queries from patients, carers, relatives and service users as a Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) enquiry


Provide a confidential listening service and resolving emerging issues in real time where possible using a number of techniques be they face to face or via digital technology.


Hours per week: 27


To respond to and manage Patient advice and Liaison concerns and enquiries in accordance with local and national standards and agreed timeframes.

Support patients, relatives and carers to obtain answers to queries and resolve concerns quickly and efficiently.


Respond to diverse and sensitive enquiries and concerns raised by the public, service users and carers about East Cheshire NHS Trust referring to any applicable Trust policies, procedures and guidelines.


Work collaboratively with staff and service managers to ensure any concerns or problems raised by service users, carers and their families can be resolved as quickly as possible.


Provide advice and support to all East Cheshire NHS Trust staff in the handling and managing of PALS concerns including promotion of 'being open' and statutory duty of candour.


Ensure PALS investigation responses are received on time, collated and a response formulated for appropriate approvals and that any delays are escalated in line with agreed procedure.


Provide a (PALS) confidential listening service to assist patients, relatives, carers and users with comments, concerns or complaints about the services provided, with on-the-spot resolution of issues where possible.

To participate in PALS outreach within the hospital and be accessible with a visible presence in the Trust
