Applications are invited for one of two temporary locum positions of Locum Emergency Consultant General Surgeon.

There are 2 locum posts advertised here to join a team of 6 colorectal surgeons, 6 upper GI surgeons and 5 breast surgeons, for a period of either 6 months or 12 months, after which 2 substantive consultant general surgeons will have been appointed into 2 new substantive sub-specialty posts in colorectal and upper GI surgery.

These substantive posts will be advertised in late 2023 (colorectal) or early 2024 (upper GI) after careful consideration of sub-specialist requirements within the directorate and will be competitive appointments with RCS tutor input.


The Locum emergency surgeon posts are structured to provide on-call cover at the University Hospital of North Tees and a range of theatre and outpatient elective sessions on both the University Hospital of North Tees and University Hospital of Hartlepool sites.
