Description
We are looking to appoint 2 CAMHS Consultants to the J17 unit at Prestwich Hospital.

GMMH provides a wide range of Specialised services for young people in the North West and beyond. The Tier 4 Specialised CAMHS services include; Junction 17- Generic Inpatient and Day-Service, FCAMHS- Forensic CAMHS assessment and consultation service, Gardener Unit

  • Adolescent Medium Secure Service, HIIT
  • Home intensive treatment team, RRT
  • Rapid Response Team as part of the crisis care pathway and Griffin Ward
  • Adult of working age ward for 18 to 25 year old females. These are all situated on the Prestwich site of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Clinical role

  • Undertake assessments of referrals/ admissions to the service
  • Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations.
  • Provide management in treatment resistant and complex presentations
  • Assessment and management of risk including of vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety and risk of harm to others.
  • Preparation of Mental Health Review Tribunal and Managers' Hearings reports and attendance at subsequent hearings.
  • Work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including external partners.
  • Work in partnership with psychiatrists from partner providers
Leadership role

  • Lead clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high quality care
  • Develop service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards
  • Engage with service transformation programmes including attendance at Consultant meetings for their service and directorate.

Educational role

  • Provide clinical supervision for trainees in gaining core and specialist psychiatric experience, support and training/resources are available to gain accreditation as a trainer and update skills regularly.
  • There are 2 core and 2 higher specialist trainees placed at Junction 17, applicant will be encouraged to take on clinical supervisor role for a core trainee, and where appropriate a higher trainee.
