    Description

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dietitian with previous experience, or relevant transferable skills and knowledge to join the North Wales Specialist Adult Eating Disorder Service (SAEDS). As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will be providing input into the newly developing Early Intervention (Tier 1 & 2) - service and the existing Tier 3 service.

    SAEDS provide specialist input into the care and treatment of patients with Eating Disorders across BCUHB. The team further provide appropriate input and support to patients and staff in the three District General Hospitals, Psychiatric Units and Community Mental Health Teams across this region. The post holder will have responsibility for the clinical assessment and dietetic provision of patients who have eating disorders.

    The post holder will be responsible for covering a specific area (West/Central BCUHB) with flexibility to cover other patches when needed. This is a full time post, however we are also open to consideration of part-time hours. Work base is Cartref, Bryn y Neuadd Hospital, Llanfairfechan.

    Main duties of the job The primary role of this post will be to provide dietetic assessment and interventions for adults with eating disorders. The post holder will undertake a significant clinical caseload to an advanced professional standard, using highly developed specialist knowledge and expertise, this being underpinned by advanced theoretical knowledge and/or practical experience.

    The post holder will be required to see patients face to face and/or over MS Teams in various clinical settings such as GP surgeries, Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs), Acute/Community Hospital Settings, Psychiatric Units and work base. Collaborative working with primary and secondary care staff in health and mental health care settings is essential which necessitates highly effective communication skills. Dietetic provision will follow the latest national and /or local guidelines for the recognition and treatment of eating disorders.

    In addition, the post holder will provide supervision, guidance and support to Band 6 Dietitians and Generic Assistants. The post holder may also be expected to assist in running groups alongside other members of the team and deliver training as appropriate.

    SAEDS also provide consultation, supervision, training and education to other health care professionals working with patients with eating disorders.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
    • Clinical leadership qualification or evidence of leadership development. Evidence of current HCPC registration. Degree, or equivalent, or post graduate qualification in dietetics. Teaching qualification or student clinical educators course. Member of the British Dietetic Association or covered by professional indemnity insurance. Basic food hygiene certificate or working towards this. A post graduate qualification at masters or equivalent in relation to eating disorders.
    Desirable
    • Membership of relevant special interest groups. Attendance at relevant accredited course/conferences. Evidence of research and audit training.
    Experience Essential
    • Experience of working in mental health dietetics at a senior level. Understanding of professional ethics and application in practice. Evidence of on-going CPD. Detailed experience of Eating Disorders management. Advanced knowledge of cognitive and perceptual deficits. Extensive working knowledge of all areas of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management. Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession. In-depth understanding of statistics and their evaluation and experience of their use.
    Desirable
    • Working at Masters Level or equivalent in relevant clinical area. Experience of service developments. Experience of organising and chairing meetings Experience of lecturing externally. Experience of research process. Previous NHS experience. Experience of service delivery in a variety of different clinical settings. Experience of student / DA training. Experience of research methodology.
