Description

New interim opportunity for a project accountant/finance manager who will work with our business to assist in a merger of two limited entities already working together in the same group.

You will be working in the smaller company, preparing their accounts and finance processes for when they are merged with the large company.

The combined group has a turnover of c.£15m.

The role would suit a qualified accountant who has been involved in limited company mergers before and knows "what good look like".

As well as this, they must be able to introduce change to improve processes in the company. This is a hands-on role in a SME,and is not just a 'Project Management' role.

We estimate the activity will take 6 months to complete and will include the following activities:

  • Review and plan merging timetable with senior team
  • Report to senior team weekly on progress
  • Prepare finance processes in the smaller company to align with the activity in the larger company
  • Be involved in the smaller company's monthly management account processes to prepare team for changes we anticipate this will involve the completion of journals and the oversight of reconciliations to the accounting software
  • Liaise with operational team members to ensure processes are being followed
  • Involvement in ERP systems review (they both operate on the same ERP, though different data sets) and merging of data
  • Review the liaison between this team and the nonfinance team responsible for purchase ledger and the raising of POs
  • Work closely with the board on identifying ad hoc requirements to ensure a successful integration
  • Build relationships across the team to ensure merger is a success

The role would suit either an interim finance professional with experience of similar mergers or a finance manager who has worked in an SME environment and can demonstrate running a timely, accurate merger or comparable project in a previous role.

Immediate start.

Travel to the larger companies head office (3 hour drive) will be required to learn processes, though we do not anticipate this being more than 2 days a month.

Travel and subsistence will be paid.

Day rate:
Circa £ day rate outside IR35. 6 months with possible extension
