Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ) is the nerve centre of the Royal Navy. It supports operations around the globe and provides the ships, people, aircraft, and equipment to deliver the UK's defence policy. Civil Servants and Armed Forces personnel work together in a wealth of interesting and challenging jobs in different disciplines.


The postholder will be part of the Project Delivery Performance team - one of three teams within the newly formed Performance Group.

The Performance Group plays a crucial role at the centre of Navy Command with the mission to drive and cohere delivery effort in alignment with organisational priorities.


Our key objectives are to:

provide business intelligence to senior leaders, manage the Portfolio of Navy's major projects and programmes; co-ordinate transformation activities; deploy project delivery specialists to priority areas; and champion the Project Delivery Profession within Navy.

The Project Delivery Performance Team is responsible for deploying Project Delivery resource into programmes within the Navy Major Projects Portfolio; workforce planning across the Performance Group and wider command for Project Delivery and acting as the champion for Project Delivery within Navy.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week


Job description:


Responsibilities
The roles will have specific responsibilities for elements of the following:

  • Assist the Support Officer (HEO) with drafting, reviewing, implementing, and maintaining PD documentation for 'initiate' and 'back to green' G/D/NMPP projects, which is aligned to appropriate management strategy, in accordance with project delivery principles.
  • Coordinating the maintenance, review and distribution of documentation relating to Boards and related project delivery governance e.g., Agendas / Terms of Reference (TORs) / Records of Actions & Decisions (RoADs), Attendee Registers, etc.
  • Assist the Support Officer (HEO) with the schedule management strategies, including coordinating processes relating to identification, recording and management of key project milestones, including resources, risks, issues, benefits, assumptions, and dependencies; arranging workshops with key stakeholders as required.
  • Assist the Support Officer (HEO) with the risk management strategies, including coordinating processes relating to the identification, recording and assessment of risks and issues, including scheduling workshops with key stakeholders, risk owners and risk plan owners.
  • Assist the Support Officer (HEO) with benefit and dependencies management strategies, including assisting with the monitoring and evaluation of benefits realisation, scheduling workshops, and maintaining records as appropriate. Asist with identifying, recording, and maintaining dependencies. Ensure that these are monitored and maintained accordingly.
  • Assist the Support Officer (HEO) with project deliveryrelated management information, in accordance with required formats and timescales inc. Project Online (POL).
