  • ABOUT US
  • The Institute of Inner-City Learning (IICL) is one of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David 's four Institutes with campuses in Birmingham and London.

The IICL has multiple intakes per annum, delivers continuous learning, teaching and recruitment cycles and operates in an intensely competitive inner-city and multicultural HE environment.

The Institute currently has approx.

4,000 non-residential students on Certificates of Higher Education, Honours degrees, Masters and Doctoral programmes, some of which are also taught at weekends.


  • THE ROLE
  • The post holder will be a member of the Admissions team and will be responsible for ensuring effective and timely service in the recruitment and admission of home applicants, in compliance with policies of the
University and other relevant regulatory bodies.

The post holder will work closely across all relevant functional areas of London Campus and Birmingham Campus (LC/BC) and in particular focus London admissions, as well as agent-led recruitment for Wales, being able to support both during peak periods.

The Admissions Officer provides an effective and timely service in the recruitment and admission of applicants from Home/EU countries, in compliance with the regulations and requirements of the University and other relevant Bodies.

The post holder will be required to work with relevant colleagues in Wales and at other UWTSD campuses as required.

The post holder will also liaise with external agencies as required and may need to spend some blocks of between 3 and 10 working days in Wales at key points in the admissions cycle.


The role will focus on supporting applicants in their journey from recruitment to enrollment as part of the Admissions team.

The post holder will be required to work within the Admissions Team, as well as working closely with other student-facing professional teams, lecturing staff, and colleagues as appropriate to ensure work is completed efficiently and effectively.

The role also requires the post holder to be able to work independently and use initiative with self-motivation to meet deadlines.

Main duties of the role includes, but is not restricted to, the following:

  • Liaising with external recruitment service providers
  • Assisting in providing appropriate information to facilitate communication with external bodies such as the UKVI and the Student Loans Company (SLC)
  • Working with the Registry department in matters related to admissions
  • Offering training and guidance individually, and as part of a team, to agents and other recruitment service providers
  • Reporting changes in student circumstances and ensuring compliance with any sponsorship duties
  • Producing conditional / unconditional offer letters and communicating to relevant parties as appropriate
  • Coordinating and organising interviews of applicants
  • Recording and updating data on the University's, and external, management systems, up to the point of registration
  • Working with the marketing team in coordinating and delivering recruitment activities, including dealing with student recruitment agencies, planning promotional initiatives, visiting schools, colleges and careers conventions and exhibitions, as appropriate, to recruit students
  • Monitoring performance of agents and other recruitment service providers and reporting to senior managers if required
  • ABOUT YOU
  • You should have:
  • Good level of general education
  • Previous administrative experience in a fastpaced education environment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Evidence of paying attention to detail
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and plan workload
  • IT literacy, with knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, and the ability to learn new packages
